World-Class Fields Set for Pole Vault at Jordan Creek Town Center and Drake Stadium

Fan-favorite exhibition returns to showcase one of the Drake Relays' most cherished events

DES MOINES, Iowa – For the first time in a decade, Jordan Creek Town Center will host world-class pole vault competition indoors on Monday, April 22, beginning at 6:00 p.m. CDT as part of the 114th Drake Relays presented by Xtream powered by Mediacom. The men's field for Vault at Jordan Creek includes the current American record-holder, and the men's and women's fields both feature Olympians and past PanAm Games and NCAA champions. The elite men will also compete outdoors at Drake Stadium during the afternoon session on Saturday, April 27.

Johnson Director of the Drake Relays. "The elite men and elite women know what a unique and dynamic opportunity it will be to compete inside Jordan Creek Town Center, surrounded by excited fans. And pole vault has always enjoyed such tremendous support during Drake Relays, anyway, both indoors and outdoors. The atmosphere and competition should be terrific at both venues."
 
The women's field at Vault at Jordan Creek will showcase:
 
Bridget (Guy) Williams – Won the 2023 Pan Am Games. Place fourth in the 2024 U.S. indoor championships. Holds fifth-best U.S. performance of all-time.
Gabriela Leon – Placed third in 2024 U.S. indoor championships. Won 2022 NCAA national championship while enrolled at Louisville.
Rachel Baxter – Won the 2022 NCAA indoor championships while enrolled at Virginia Tech. Placed eighth at 2024 U.S. indoor championships.
Emily Grove – Won 2019 Drake Relays Street Vault and 2017 university/college division. Holds ninth-best U.S. performance of all time.
Brynn King – Holds the Division 2 indoor and outdoor records. 
 
The men's field for Vault at Jordan Creek will feature:
 
KC Lightfoot – Holds the American record. Finished 4th in the Tokyo Olympics. Won the NCAA national championship while enrolled at Baylor.
Matt Ludwig – Won the 2023 PanAm Games and the 2020 U.S. indoor championships. Competed in the Tokyo Olympics.
Clayton Fritsch – Won bronze medal at 2019 PanAm Games. Six-time, first-team All American while enrolled at Sam Houston State.
Zach Bradford – Placed third at the 2023 U.S. outdoor championships. Seven-time, first-team All American while enrolled at Texas Tech and Kansas.
Cole Walsh – Finalist at the 2019 world championships. All American while enrolled at Oregon. 
 
The male vaulters listed above will also compete outdoors at Drake Stadium and be joined by:
 
Keaton Daniel – Reigning NCAA Indoor men's pole vault champion at Kentucky.
Tray Oates – Placed fourth in 2024 U.S. indoor championships. Four-time All American while enrolled at Samford.
Nate Richartz – Place fifth in 2024 U.S. indoor championships. All American while enrolled at Notre Dame.
Luke Winder – Six-time national champion at Division 3 level. Former Drake Relays champion.
 
2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the Jordan Creek Town Center mall and 10th anniversary of the last time the Drake Relays hosted this event.

Vault at Jordan Creek is open to the public; no ticket necessary. All session tickets for Drake Relays presented by Xtream powered by Mediacom are on sale now at DrakeTix.com/drakerelays. A ticket for the Saturday afternoon session is required to watch the men's elite outdoor pole vault competition at Drake Stadium. There will not be an elite outdoor pole vault competition for women.
