Utah head coach Kyle Kepler reflects on the Utes winning the women's University Relays Cup for the first time in program history with 36 points at the 113th Drake Relays at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. Kepler, who grew up in Webster City, Iowa, in addition to running for and coaching at Northern Iowa, before arriving at Utah in 2006, had the Utes score in all five events, winning the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay for the first time in meet history in 3:58.41, along with placing second in the 4x800-meter relay in 8:56.30, and runner-up in the distance medley relay in 11:29.31. Utah added fourth-place efforts in the 4x100-meter relay in 46.25 and 4x400-meter relay in 3:40.64 to secure the team title. The Utes also had Simone Plourde place second in the elite women's 1,500 meters in a lifetime-best 4:10.04. More videos |
