Kostas Zaltos, a junior at Minnesota, repeated as champion in the men's invitational hammer throw with a lifetime-best 246-11 (75.27m) effort in the second round to surpass the meet record at the 113th Drake Relays at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. Zaltos became the first male athlete since 2003-04 to secure back-to-back hammer throw titles at the Drake Relays, elevating to the No. 18 competitor in collegiate history. He eclipsed the all-time meet performance of 238-9 (72.77m) set in 2002 by SMU's Libor Charfreitag and equaled in 2008 by Auburn's Cory Martin.
